So long credit card. Please don’t come back.

Today I took a very satisfying step: I closed one of my credit cards.

It’s been a long road of recovery from debt. My journey has been arduous but pretty typical. Spending more than I’ve got coming in. Buying unnecessary things. All led to me owing about £20,000 in consumer lifestyle debt. It was like a millstone around my neck. I’d loathe myself for days on end about how I let myself get into such a situation. But a combination of increasing my income and trying and failing and trying again to reduce my outgoings has paid off.

Now I don’t feel I need credit cards. Being able to close one is a personal triumph.
